Shaykh Murabit Benavidez was born in Fremont, California in 1979. He was raised in a Catholic, Mexican household before he embraced Islam at 19. His desire to seek Sacred Knowledge led him to Syria shortly thereafter, where he began his studies in Arabic and the Islamic Sciences. In 2002, Shaykh Murabit continued his studies in the deserts of Mauritania, in Arabic, Fiqh, Aqidah, and Tasawwuf. Some of the eminent scholars Shaykh Murabit studied under include: Murabit al-Hajj, Murabit Hadamin bin AbdurRahman, Abdullah bin Ahmad Fal, and Murabit Ahmad Fal bin Ahamadna.

Shaykh Murabit Benavidez is a distinguished scholar and educator with over two decades of teaching experience at institutions including Zaytuna College, Darul Qasim, and the Ta’leef Collective. After embracing Islam, he dedicated his formative years to intensive study in Damascus, Syria, and Mauritania under the tutelage of Murabit Al Hajj.
Upon returning from abroad, Shaykh Murabit continued his studies while actively serving the community through educational and dawah initiatives. He remains dedicated to advancing his expertise, focusing on Kalam, Maliki Fiqh, and Hadith studies. Currently, Shaykh Murabit serves both New York City and New Jersey through various local Islamic institutions.
